The current formula
Daily wage = your basic salary ÷ 30. You get 21 days of that per year for years one through five, then 30 days per year from year six, pro-rated for partial years. You need at least one full year of service to qualify, and the total is capped at two years' wage. It is calculated on basic salary only — housing and transport allowances don't count.
The rule most calculators still get wrong
Before 2022, resigning from an unlimited contract cut your gratuity to one-third or two-thirds unless you'd served five years. Federal Decree-Law 33/2021 abolished that: under the current law you receive the full gratuity whether you resign or are terminated. Many online calculators and old forum answers still apply the abolished reduction — if a calculator asks whether you resigned and lowers the number, it's using the dead law.
Check it before you sign the final settlement
Unpaid or miscalculated gratuity claims go through MOHRE. Run your number here first, compare it with the settlement offer, and query any gap before signing — it's much harder after.
